After receiving a volume of responses to our first blog post, the owner of the Opera House, Steve Dey, began the arduous task of digging through the countless treasures he has found over the years there.
The lower level of the Opera House was used as a grocery store for many years, offering fresh produce, meats, dry goods, and poultry. And of course, if you are in the grocery business, there are numerous permits to conduct business, while keeping your customers safe.
Below is a State permit dating back to March 26, 1945. Issued to Hinze grocery, it permitted Erwin and Phoebe Hinze the ability to candle and sell eggs.
This author asks the question. The permit says Cedar Bluffs. Did the Hinze family live or do business in Cedar Bluffs?
